Weekly Class Letter 2nd October 2020

        Dear Parents,

                                Super work this week from everyone in Langwith Class!

         During Literacy sessions the children have imagined that they have now joined the Roman Army and have written a letter
         home to their family.They all tried very hard with these letters and we are super proud of everyone's efforts.
         In Numeracy sessions the children have now finished their work on adding and subtracting 1,10 or 1,10,100 from 2,3 or 4 digit
         numbers. They have also completed a weekly mental arithmetic test at their own level and revised work on adding 2,3,4 digit
         numbers.

        This week in topic sessions the children have been thinking about why the Romans wanted to come to Britain.

         The children were really clever in RE this week and each made an Origami boat! Well done children and Mrs Moss and Mrs
         Walls! During our PE session on Tuesday, the children enjoyed completing the running part of their Roman Legionary   
         athletic challenge.

        Thank you to everyone who sent Harvest gift donations. These have now been collected by Rev. Richard and taken to a charity
        in Worksop. 

       The Harvest service is on Thursday 8th Oct. and will be available to be watched on the school website on this day.

                                                                                Homework 02.10.2020

      For their homework this week, please could your child:-

         1.    Complete the learning and worksheets in the Roman Numeral booklet

I have printed out the booklets this week because everyone has lots of different sheets.

           Please email their finished pieces of work back to me by next Wednesday 7th Oct. 

         so I can mark it.

          2. Learn the spellings they have been given for a test next Friday 9th Oct.

          3. Practise the Roman Numerals for a test on Friday 9th Oct. 

          4. Read at least one book to you. It can be their own book or one from the MYon system.

Welcome To Langwith Class

             I look forward to working with you this year to help your child with the next stage of their learning journey. We are very lucky
             this year to also have Mrs Moss, Miss Tindall, Miss Kennerley and Mrs Walls working in Langwith Class at different times   
             during the week. 

             I have written the work we hope to cover this half term on a separate sheet below, but our main class topic for this half      
             term is called 'I am a Warrior' and will focus on Roman and Celtic warriors.           

            PE

            Our PE session for this half term will take place on the field on a Tuesday [weather permitting!] and will be a games session 
            or PE connected to our topic. Please could your child bring their PE in on a Tuesday. As our coat peg stand has not yet 
            arrived, I will send their PE kit back home at the end of the day until further notice. They can bring a tracksuit [joggers and a  
            sweatshirt] and will need a pair of trainers.

            Wellies
            We want to get the children out to break as often as possible, so please make sure that your child has a pair of wellies which 
            they can keep in school and use when needed.

            Homework

            Your child's homework will be sent to you by email on Friday and needs to be sent back to me by email by the following 
            Wednesday.

            Your child will be given a paper list of spellings on a Friday to learn for a test on the following Friday. We do not need the
            spelling list back. Please practise the spellings at home. The spelling cards have all been updated by Mrs Coleman and the
            levels changed, so you may find that the list of words contains some words that your child has previously learnt. 

            Every 2 weeks your child will have a Times Tables test on a Friday, so please keep practising their times tables on the Times
            Tables Rockstars.

            Reading
           Your child will have a reading book which they will keep in school to read during the week. Although we are not sending any
           books home at present, your child needs to read as often as possible with you using their own books or books on the MYON 
           system. When your child has read a book, please log on to the Accelerated reader system to register the book.

            General Information
            All general information and weekly class letters will be added to this web page on a Friday, so please check it each week so
            you know what is going on. We will also 'Tweet' photos of interesting things which we are doing in class.

            It is important that we work together to help your child to make progress, so please do not hesitate to contact me by email or
            phone if you have any concerns.
