We are a Twinkl Phonics School
Cuckney C of E Primary uses the DfE approved Twinkl Phonics Scheme. Twinkl Phonics is a fully comprehensive, synthetic phonics teaching programme designed to be used with children from nursery to year 2. Delivered through the stories and adventures of Kit, Sam and the Twinkl Phonics family, the scheme builds and develops the skills and understanding children need to become effective, independent readers and writers.
Actions we use to teach each sound
Rhino Readers
Cuckney C of E Primary use Rhino Readers in EYFS & KS1. These are a progressive selection of beautifully illustrated, inviting and inspiring books that form a fully decodable reading scheme. With clear progression and complete fidelity to Twinkl Phonics, children will only read the sounds and tricky words they’ve already learnt, helping them to build confidence and regularly apply their new learning. Rhino Readers is a broad and diverse collection of stories. Featuring fiction, non-fiction, poetry and playscripts, we’ve developed a range of books that will inspire a genuine love of reading to last a lifetime.
