Welcome to Holbeck Class

General Class Information

A huge welcome to Holbeck Class. We are a happy, busy mixed Reception and Year 1 class, where children learn, play and grow together. In our classroom, every day is full of curiosity, creativity and fun. The youngest children in Early Years enjoy exploring through play, while our Year 1s continue their learning journey with exciting new challenges – and together we make one big team.

On this page, we’ll share our adventures, learning highlights and special moments, so families can see what we’ve been up to. We hope you enjoy visiting and celebrating all the wonderful things your children achieve.

We can’t wait to learn, discover and have lots of fun this year!

Meet the adults that will help you in your class:

PE

Our PE lessons are weekly on MONDAY afternoons for the autumn 1 term.

It would be helpful for children to keep their PE in school all week to cater for any possible timetable changes. Please label all items of your child's PE kit. Long hair must be tied up and all jewellery removed.

Homework

Reading: All children are encouraged to read as much as possible, and are expected to read with an adult at home at least 3 times per week. Please record this in your child's reading dairy. In Holbeck, children will move their owl up our class reading tree for each read. Look out for prizes to be won!  All children in school also earn rewards for each 100 reads as per our whole school reading reward scheme. 

Reading books are changed every MONDAY.

Spellings: Spellings will be tested every TUESDAY. All children will be given brand new spelling words this year, carefully matched to their learning needs.
